Hockeytown Moments

What’s your Hockeytown Moment?

Do you have a great story or memory to share about your love of hockey and being a fan of the Red Wings? Have you seen games at all three arenas (Olympia, Joe Louis, Little Caesars Arena)? Maybe your older brothers forced you to watch games from your father’s lap, believing it was good luck? Perhaps you have an epic Red Wings-themed mancave that is the envy of all your friends? Whatever it is, we’d like to know. Share your story with us and you could be showcased in our video series “Hockeytown Moments”.

Hockeytown Moments | Devon Cook

Devon Cook | Bloomfield Hills, MI

For Devon, Red Wings hockey truly is a family affair. Her parents are diehard fans who first introduced her to the game. In university, she knew her husband to-be was a “keeper” after discovering he played hockey. Mind you, he’s not the only keeper in her life – she has a thing for goalies and collects their game-used equipment. Ever-present at Red Wings games, Devon met best friend Megan through her membership in “The Ladies of the NHL.” After about a year of friendship, she finally thought: “Hey, you should meet my brother!” Now Megan and her brother are engaged to be married. Just one big, happy Red Wings family and a true love of the game.

Cohn Brothers

Matthew Cohn | San Mateo, CA
Justin Cohn | Ft. Wayne, IN

Brothers Matthew and Justin Cohn had no choice but to be Red Wings fans. Raised in Bloomfield Hills, their father first became a season ticket member in 1966, resulting in many childhood debates over who could go with dad to the hockey game. Even though both no longer live in Michigan, each now makes the effort to regularly travel home and attend games at Little Caesars Arena, ensuring their kids have the same love of the Red Wings that they do. Traveling to see the Red Wings play is part of their DNA, but the brothers could never have imagined the more profound impact hockey and Hockeytown would ultimately have on their lives.

Mark Decker

Mark Decker | Grosse Pointe Woods, MI

Mark’s love of hockey and the Red Wings remains just as strong today as it did when he first started playing hockey as a kid. Eventually, Mark would go on to run the Red Wings’ alumni fantasy camps, rubbing elbows and trading chirps with Hockeytown greats -- making life-long friendships along the way.

Anne Uhl

Anne Uhl | Detroit, MI

Anne is a diehard Wings fan who bleeds Red & White. For many seasons, she volunteered at training camp in Traverse City, often serving as a driver for the players. As a result, she has collected season after season of team-signed jerseys! And finally, after many years on the waitlist, Anne’s wish finally came true and she was able to become a member of Winged Wheel Nation. Now she enjoys each home game with her Red Wings family.

Mark Harvey

Mark Harvey | Grand Blanc, MI

Mark has been a fan of the Red Wings ever since he can remember. An avid hockey card and memorabilia collector, he’s shared his love of hockey with his entire family, who often join him at games. Every season he splits a Full Season ticket plan with his son and long-time buddies. But who gets to go to which game? What’s now become an annual tradition, all it takes is a little strategy and a roll of the dice.
