Corey Griffin Perry SCF media day

Griffin Perry tried to play hooky from school on Tuesday.

The 8-year-old joined his dad, Edmonton Oilers forward Corey Perry, during the 2025 Stanley Cup Final Media Day at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Griffin dressed for the occasion in a suit and answered questions from the media.

He told reporters his friends at school had no idea he was at the press conference and that they probably thought he was sick.

Griffin revealed it’s hard for his dad to teach him hockey, but he has a pretty good teacher in his dad’s teammate Leon Draisaitl. The younger Perry said the Oilers star teaches him how to win face offs.

The Oilers forward told reporters his son had to go to school to end the press conference which did not please Griffin.

The youngster tried to stall by asking his dad to go see the trophies on the other side of the room.

“So, I have to go to school? I’ll only have three hours at school,” Griffin said attempting to negotiate with his dad.

“I know, that’s perfect,” Perry responded.

“No, it’s not. I won’t learn anything,” Griffin said to end the video.

An “A” for effort, Griffin.
